China Action Day

Saturday 28th June was a great day for a China action protest against violations of human rights and activists from Birmingham and the West Midlands made full use of it

The day was fantastic in every way, the weather was kind, the volunteers from all over the West Midlands, not just the Birmingham Groups, were terrific and I think we managed to get 450 carnations addressed with human rights messages and sent to Madame Fu Ying, the Chinese Ambassador. People were queuing at the tables to sign messages to attach to flowers, to sign petitions and to take leaflets and I believe a fair number of the Birmingham public took the day to heart, for the messages sent to the Embassy were often passionate and heartfelt

I hope the pictures, provided by Candice, Nicky, Simon and Mark, are not just a fond memory for everyone but maybe could be used by AIUK as yet another example of what local groups can do when they are determined to accomplish something. Thanks to everyone involved and enjoy the memories!!
